Chicago Area’s Best Selection of Vera Bradley
The Vera Bradley collection of quilted cotton handbags, luggage, and accessories is so popular with Little Traveler customers, it has its own dedicated room in the center of our Illinois shop, just outside the Atrium Café. And the scenery is always changing with the seasons as Vera Bradley introduces new fabrics and styles.
The idea for the Vera Bradley company first sparked in March of 1982, when longtime friends Barbara Bradley Baekgaard and Patricia R. Miller took a vacation together and saw that the luggage throughout the airport had a distinctly masculine look. They got the idea to create a line of durable luggage and travel bags with a feminine flare. Look around the airport next time you’re there and you’ll see that the idea was a success—Vera Bradley fabrics are everywhere! Vera Bradley handbags, duffels, backpacks, and totes are beautiful, functional, long-lasting and versatile all at the same time. And new collections are added every season to keep up with women’s changing needs, like the full line of electronic covers and protectors that is now a popular part of the Vera Bradley collection.
Who is Vera Bradley?
Veronica Bradley is the mother of Vera Bradley co-founder Barbara Baekgaard. She was born on August 9, 1909, and was chosen by Elizabeth Arden herself to model in the 30s. Vera’s blend of grace and classic style with a fun loving zest for life was what Barbara and Patricia wanted to capture in their new line of luggage and bags for women, so that’s why they chose to name their company after Veronica. The company’s namesake even worked as a sales representative for the Vera Bradley company until she died in the early 1990s.
